English: I represent Gaza. Slang expression originally used to describe a southern city in Jamaica called Portmore (hometown of Jamaican DJ Vybz Kartel). Nowadays is used to refer to a crew/movement started by Vybz Kartel which featured popular Jamaican entertainers such as Popcaan and Tommy Lee.
Why is Jamaica called Gaza?
And most recently in Portmore, Jamaica ” there is Gaza. Gaza was named by the now incarcerated dancehall artiste, Vybz Kartel. We imagine a site of bullets, blood, murder, violence and a people under siege. The very reason the section of Portmore was renamed Gaza marks it as a site of another equally interesting war.
